Project Menagerie 6.3 (Solos)

[22:10] <Rob_Nar> Out of all the people on the project you probably know Colin the best. You and Echo have been on the project since pretty much the begining, but she has amnesia now.
[22:10] <Rob_Nar> He has asked you to meet with him and talk about the project.

[22:11] * Angus_ will, of course, do so
[22:12] * Colin_ invites you to his suits, a group of rooms he uses for personal use and to entertain guests.
[22:12] * Angus_ will head up there
[22:12] * Colin_ is looking over a laptop as you come in.
[22:13] <Angus_> You asked to meet with me?
[22:13] <Colin_> yes, its good to see you.
[22:13] <Colin_> I wanted to get your opinion on the project. How its coming along and all that.
[22:14] <Angus_> It seems to be working well, generally, I feel.
[22:14] <Colin_> come on in, sit.
[22:14] * Angus_ takes a seat
[22:14] <Colin_> thats good to hear.
[22:14] <Colin_> How has the field work been?
[22:15] <Angus_> You've got experienced people with Monarch, Dixon, and Miss Fallout which makes the field work fairly easy
[22:15] * Colin_ has always been good at letting you know by his body language wether he's talking to you as your boss or just as someone interested in what your doing. Right now its the second.
[22:17] <Colin_> thats good.
[22:17] <Angus_> personally, I wish we had more puppets in the field.
[22:17] <Colin_> Why is that?
[22:18] <Angus_> First of all, I've spent a lot of time on this project and I want it to pan out well.
[22:18] * Colin_ smiles at that.
[22:19] <Angus_> Second, our last conflict showed a limitation of not having a team of all puppets. Monarch was taken out quite quickly, and her safety became an issue.
[22:19] <Angus_> If she was ridding a puppet as well, it wouldn't have been an issue.
[22:21] <Angus_> I'm not sure how Dixon would feel about this opinion, but the reality was, once things got bad, only the puppet riders were able to contribute to the fight.
[22:21] <Colin_> Yes. It would be interesting if she could use the tran-tech technology. She would keep most of her mental powers.
[22:21] <Angus_> I can personally attest to that being true.
[22:22] <Colin_> Yes.
[22:22] <Colin_> Mythos has some interesting hypothosis regarding Marcus.
[22:22] <Angus_> such as?
[22:22] <Colin_> he thinks that if we can amplify his connection to his spiders, he man be able to use his spider hoard as a host for Tran-tech
[22:23] <Colin_> He's allready finished some more powerful spiders that Marcus has added to his hoard.
[22:24] <Colin_> If the technology advances far enough, we could put both monarch and strand in various puppets. They could keep most of their current powers, on top of the powers of their creatures.
[22:24] <Angus_> That is an interesting possibility. I've never considered creating a trans-target as an intergrated collective...
[22:24] <Colin_> Your LongThorn has done very well in field tests.
[22:25] <Angus_> It has. Dixon seems quite impressed with it's capabilities.
[22:26] <Colin_> thats good.
[22:26] <Colin_> What do you feel about it?
[22:26] <Angus_> The longthorn does what it's designed to do very well.
[22:27] <Colin_> Good.
[22:27] <Angus_> So far, it's agility has not required any testing of its inherit durability. I am curious to see how it will be able to stustaing damage.
[22:27] <Colin_> I'm sure you'll get your chance before long.
[22:28] <Angus_> More than likely.
[22:28] <Angus_> Are you pleased with the results of this phase of the project. The last mission did not go well, but we were clearly overpowered.
[22:28] <Colin_> Mythos wants to shift focus away from improving the tran-tech and focusing on improving the creatures we have now, including the LongThorn. What do you think of that?
[22:29] <Angus_> Considering the last encounter, if that is an example of power level of the typical skindancer, it's a prudent idea.
[22:29] <Colin_> I guess there is the rub, what is the power level of the typical skindancer.
[22:30] <Colin_> We don't know that yet.
[22:30] <Colin_> But I see your point. I think I'm going to approve the shift of focus.
[22:31] * Angus_ nods
[22:31] <Colin_> Were would you like to take the LongThorn power wise?
[22:32] <Angus_> That's a good question and I hadn't really thought about it. Dixon descibes it as a shock troop, so firepower would probably be a good area to focus on.
[22:32] * Colin_ nods.
[22:33] <Colin_> Ok, well, maybe you should talk to Dixon about it sometime. I'm sure Mythos is willing to work with any ideas you two have.
[22:33] <Angus_> That's a good idea. He probably has a better idea what would be needed than I would.
[22:35] <Colin_> good.
[22:35] <Colin_> So far it seems that Dixon and Monarch are taking charge.
[22:35] <Colin_> Is that ok with you?
[22:36] <Angus_> They have the background and field experience for the operations that we are doing. It seems only prudent to me.
[22:36] <Angus_> It's not like I have any police or military training
[22:36] <Colin_> ok, good.
[22:36] <Colin_> I'm glad thats working out then.
[22:37] <Colin_> It seems to be comming along well.
[22:37] <Angus_> In the end though, they're not really my boss, are they.
[22:37] <Colin_> No, they aren't.
[22:38] <Colin_> And both of them have been very used to using lethal force. That is a change they are going to have to get used to.
[22:38] <Angus_> Good, sometimes Monarch has a very extreme view on things, which I don't really agree with.
[22:38] <Colin_> I'm not saying it will never be appropriate, but we aren't working in the shadow here.
[22:39] <Colin_> I think Monarch will work out in the end. But she will need to get used to how we do things here.
[22:39] <Colin_> If she can't respect us, she will never be part of the team.
[22:39] <Angus_> Time will tell, I guess
[22:39] <Colin_> yes, it will.
[22:39] <Colin_> I still have high hopes though.
[22:40] * Colin_ smiles at you.
[22:40] <Angus_> good, I'd hate to see our funding being cut
[22:40] * Angus_ jokes
[22:40] * Colin_ laughs.
[22:40] <Colin_> I'll do everything I need to to keep this project going.
[22:40] <Colin_> both our field team, and our support team is performing well.
[22:41] * Angus_ nods
[22:41] <Colin_> We may suffer defeat at the hands of our enemies, but as long as the public believes in us, the project will continue.
[22:42] <Colin_> and we will win out in the end.
[22:42] <Angus_> of course
[22:43] <Colin_> good.
[22:44] <Colin_> You've been very helpful to me Angus.
[22:44] <Colin_> thank you.
[22:44] <Angus_> Glad to help

[22:46] * Abib_Dahir will meet with you in his office any time you ask.
[22:46] <Dixon> (okay)
[22:47] * Dixon rolls into Dahir's office and slams the door
[22:49] * Abib_Dahir is waiting patiently at his chair.
[22:49] <Abib_Dahir> Can I help you?
[22:50] * Dixon stares across at Dahir
[22:50] <Dixon> The next time you want to speak to one of my people you speak to me first
[22:50] <Abib_Dahir> No
[22:50] <Abib_Dahir> That is not a requirement of my job.
[22:51] * Abib_Dahir waits for you response.
[22:52] <Dixon> Maybe not but it's what you're going to do
[22:52] <Dixon> You have a problem with one of them you come to me first
[22:52] <Abib_Dahir> Again, NO.
[22:52] <Abib_Dahir> That is not how things work.
[22:52] <Abib_Dahir> and to be accurate. I did not have a problem with her.
[22:52] <Abib_Dahir> She seemed to have the false immpression she is stuck here.
[22:53] <Abib_Dahir> That she could not leave of her own volition.
[22:53] <Abib_Dahir> But that simply is not the case.
[22:54] * Abib_Dahir does not seem to be intimidated by you.
[22:54] <Dixon> Well the truth is it seems that most of us have no where else to go
[22:55] <Dixon> Echo, Miss Fallout, Monarch, myself
[22:55] <Abib_Dahir> I can understand that with most of you. But oddly enough, Monarch is the only one that *could* just walk away.
[22:56] <Abib_Dahir> Each of you need something from this project. Except her.
[22:56] <Abib_Dahir> But she seems to think she is shackled here.
[22:56] <Dixon> Maybe she feels that this is the only way she can atone without going postal
[22:56] <Abib_Dahir> And maybe she is right.
[22:56] <Abib_Dahir> as long as atonement is really her intent.
[22:57] <Dixon> what do you think her intent is then?
[22:57] <Abib_Dahir> She seems to dislike this project. She seems to think we are all too soft.
[22:58] <Abib_Dahir> but my main concern is her implying, in front of the entire field team I might add, that she was somehow trapped here.
[22:58] <Abib_Dahir> Implying that we were forcing her to work for us.
[22:58] <Abib_Dahir> That is bad for the team.
[22:58] <Abib_Dahir> and bad for the project.
[22:59] <Dixon> I'm handling that by giving her a place which I don't need you fucking up by not trusting me!
[22:59] <Dixon> I was hired to train and lead. Let me do it.
[22:59] * Abib_Dahir considers your point carefully.
[22:59] <Dixon> By speaking to me first!
[23:00] <Dixon> I know part of the job is to look good doing it. I don't like it but I know it.
[23:00] * Abib_Dahir lets you speak.
[23:01] <Dixon> However, for her and me you help us better by acting on the sidelines and not getting in our face, especially her's.
[23:02] * Abib_Dahir considers this a moment longer.
[23:02] <Abib_Dahir> Very well.
[23:02] <Dixon> If we screw up I'll take the blame, no one else.
[23:02] <Abib_Dahir> I was told that part of my duties was the make sure each of you were informed of your legal responsibilities.
[23:02] <Abib_Dahir> So that was why I chose to speak to her.
[23:02] <Abib_Dahir> But you have made a good point.
[23:03] <Abib_Dahir> So in the future, I'll bring concerns to you.
[23:03] <Dixon> Good. I'm glad we have an understanding.
[23:03] <Abib_Dahir> But you are wrong on one point: If you screw up, it won't be you that takes the blame. Blame will fall on all of us. You can't sheild the project from that.
[23:04] <Abib_Dahir> Any screw up you have will hang on all of us.
[23:04] <Dixon> you're a PR man and a lawyer. We both know that things can be spun if someone is willing to take the fall
[23:04] * Abib_Dahir nods.
[23:04] <Abib_Dahir> Very well.
[23:04] <Dixon> especially someone with my past
[23:04] <Abib_Dahir> We do indeed have an understanding.
[23:05] <Abib_Dahir> This project is the best chance our country has of a legitimate SCU, it needs to succeed.
[23:05] <Dixon> It will
[23:06] * Abib_Dahir nods again.
[23:06] <Dixon> You have a good day Mr. Dahir
[23:06] <Abib_Dahir> You as well Col Dixon.
[23:07] <Dixon> I'd buy you a beer sometime but I don't drink
[23:07] * Dixon says as he rolls out the door
[23:07] <Abib_Dahir> Neither to I, it is all right.
